Tembe Elephant Park

Home of Africa's biggest tuskers, the legendary Tembe waterhole on a live webcam.

About this view

Tembe's waterhole is elephant television at its purest: the park was created for Maputaland's elephants, and its bulls carry some of the heaviest ivory in Africa today. When a big tusker walks in, you will know.

The supporting cast covers the region's specials: nyala in the sand forest fringe, buffalo herds, kudu, and lions that arrive to flatten the mood. Winter dry season (May–September) turns the waterhole into the district's town square.

The live webcam runs 24/7 and South Africa is on UTC+2. Elephants favour late morning through afternoon for drinking and mud-bathing; the infrared night feed adds hyenas and honey badgers with their unmistakable swagger.
