Linkwasha Waterhole
An open-plain waterhole in southeastern Hwange, busy from first light on a live webcam.
About this view
Linkwasha sits in the southeast of Hwange, in a concession of open grassland fringed with acacia, more plain than woodland, which means long sightlines and animals visible well before they arrive at the water.
The same logic that governs the rest of Hwange applies here: no permanent rivers, pumped water, and a dry season that turns every filled pan into the centre of the ecosystem. Elephant and buffalo dominate the daylight hours, and the open ground makes this one of the better spots in the park for seeing lion move in the open rather than glimpsing them in cover.
This live cam runs 24/7; Zimbabwe is UTC+2. July through October is the concentrated dry-season viewing; the rains from November green everything and disperse the game across the park again.
