A live webcam in a hide set at water level on a quiet waterway in the Selinda Reserve, a private concession in northern Botswana that links the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti swamps. Being low to the water is the point: animals arrive at eye height rather than seen from above, and the reflections do half the work.
Elephants are the regulars, since Selinda sits on one of the corridors they use between the delta and the Linyanti, along with giraffe splaying their legs to reach the surface, antelope drinking in nervous shifts, and fish eagles whose call carries across the whole recording.
The dry season, roughly May to October, concentrates everything on water like this and is the season to watch (UTC+2, no daylight saving). The rains scatter the animals across the reserve and the hide can stand empty for long stretches.
