About this view
The town's own 4K live webcam over the beach at Fort-Mahon-Plage, on the Picardy coast between the Bay of the Somme and the Bay of the Authie. At low tide the sea withdraws far enough to leave a strip of sand that runs 12 to 17 kilometres along the shore — which is why this is one of France's sand-yachting beaches.
The tide sets the programme: sand yachts and kite buggies when the flats are out, swimmers and the seafront crowd when the water is in. A village of some 1,300 people triples in summer, and the promenade below the camera fills accordingly.
Check the tide times before watching (UTC+1, +2 in summer) — the beach is a different place two hours either side of low water. The Bay of the Authie, just north, holds a colony of grey and harbour seals that haul out on the sandbanks around low tide.
