Platja de l'Albir

A live webcam on the pebble beach of l'Albir, with the Serra Gelada rising behind it.

About this view

Platja de l'Albir is the beach of l'Alfàs del Pi, between Benidorm and Altea, and this live cam looks along its shore. The beach is pebble rather than sand, which keeps the water clear enough to see the bottom well out from shore.

The promenade behind it fills from mid morning with walkers, and the path at the far end climbs into the Serra Gelada natural park towards the lighthouse on the cliff, a walk of about three kilometres on a paved track. The park, declared in 2005, was the first in the Valencian region to protect the sea as well as the land, and the ridge drops in cliffs of several hundred metres on its far side.

The Costa Blanca keeps Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer. L'Alfàs del Pi has some 22,000 residents, a good share of them Norwegian and British retirees who winter here, so January is mild enough for the terraces to stay open. The sea is warmest from July to September.
