Platja de l'Alguer, l'Ametlla de Mar

The town's live webcam on a cove beach at l'Ametlla de Mar, clear water on the Costa Daurada.

About this view

Platja de l'Alguer is one of the coves that notch the coast at l'Ametlla de Mar, and the town's tourist office runs this live cam over it, an hour and a half down the coast from Tarragona.

The coast here is a string of small bays between rocky points rather than one long strand, so each cove has its own crowd and its own colour of water, and the fishing fleet still works out of the port around the headland. Offshore, in pens you can see from the cliffs, bluefin tuna are fattened for the Japanese market, and the town runs boat trips out to swim among them. The Ebro delta, with its rice fields and flamingos, begins a few kilometres to the south.

Catalonia keeps Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer. Locals call the town la Cala, some 7,000 people live here, and people swim in the coves from June into October; outside those months the coves empty.
