A live webcam on White Bay from the Soggy Dollar Bar, on the small British Virgin Island of Jost Van Dyke. The bar has no dock, which is the whole story: boats anchor out in the bay and everyone swims in, arriving at the counter with wet banknotes, the soggy dollars the place is named for.
This is where the Painkiller was invented, the rum, pineapple, orange, coconut cream and nutmeg drink now poured across the Caribbean. In frame: a curve of white sand, anchored yachts on impossibly clear water, and the slow traffic between the two.
Charter season runs roughly December to April and fills the anchorage; late summer is quiet and inside hurricane season (UTC−4, no daylight saving). Afternoons are the busiest, when the day boats arrive from Tortola and the other BVI islands and the bay fills with tenders.
