Maho Bay, St. John
Boats and sunsets on a live webcam over Maho Bay, inside the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John.
About this view
Maho Bay curves along the north shore of St. John, inside the Virgin Islands National Park, and this live cam looks over it from the terrace of a rental house on the hillside: boats sailing in and out, the moorings in the bay and, in the evening, the sun going down towards St. Thomas.
The bay is shallow and sheltered, with seagrass beds where green sea turtles graze and stingrays glide over the sand, which makes it one of the island's favourite beaches for swimming and snorkelling. More than half of St. John is national park, created in 1956 on land bought and donated by Laurance Rockefeller, so the hills around the bay stay green and largely unbuilt.
St. John keeps Atlantic Standard Time, UTC−4, all year, with no daylight saving, so a Caribbean sunset here comes in the European late evening or night. The dry, breezy season runs from December to April; hurricane season lasts from June to November.
