Fishing Port, l'Ametlla de Mar

Trawlers and the quays of l'Ametlla de Mar on a live webcam over the town's working fishing port.

About this view

L'Ametlla de Mar is a fishing town before it is a resort, and this live cam looks over its port pesquer, the harbour where the trawlers and the small inshore boats tie up between trips. Locals call the town la Cala, and the port is its centre of gravity: the quays, the fish market and the seafront restaurants all face the water.

The trawlers leave early and come back in the late afternoon, and the view follows that rhythm: a half-empty basin through the middle of the day, then boats nosing in one after another, crates and nets on the quay, and gulls working the wake. The delta of the Ebro, with its rice fields and lagoons, begins a few kilometres to the south.

Catalonia keeps Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer. Some 7,000 people live in l'Ametlla de Mar, which lies an hour and a half down the coast from Tarragona, and the harbour works all year, whatever the season is doing to the beaches.
