Canoe Cove Marina, Sidney
Boats, docks and island weather on a live webcam at Canoe Cove Marina near Sidney, British Columbia.
About this view
Canoe Cove Marina sits on the Vancouver Island shore of the Salish Sea, a few minutes from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, and this live cam watches its docks and the water beyond them.
Boaters use it as a weather window on the Salish Sea: flat calm one hour, whitecaps the next, with the big ferries crossing to Tsawwassen and the mainland in the distance and float planes passing overhead on the Victoria run. Owners moored here check the sea state on it before they drive down to the dock. Across the strait lie the Gulf Islands, about an hour's run for a small boat.
Sidney keeps Pacific Time, UTC−8, UTC−7 in summer. The town next door, home to some 11,600 people, sits between the island's international airport and the ferry terminal. Boats go out from spring into autumn; through the wet winter the marina is full and quiet.
