Weymouth Harbour
Fishing boats, yachts and the lifting Town Bridge on a live webcam over Weymouth's old harbour in Dorset.
About this view
Weymouth's harbour runs up the mouth of the River Wey into the middle of the Dorset town, and this live cam watches it: fishing boats and charter boats moored along the quays, yachts on the pontoons, and the old harbourside buildings behind them.
The Town Bridge, a lifting bridge opened in 1930, divides the harbour in two and rises at set times to let masts through, so the traffic on the water comes in waves rather than a steady stream of hulls. Weymouth has been a seaside resort since King George III began spending his summers here in 1789, and in 2012 the waters off Weymouth and Portland hosted the Olympic sailing regattas.
Weymouth keeps UK time, UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer, the same clock as London. The harbour is at its busiest from Easter to September, when the town fills with visitors; in winter the boats stay tied up while the Channel gales blow through.
