Port of Southampton from Town Quay

Cruise ships, ferries, tugs and container ships at the Port of Southampton, on a live webcam from Town Quay.

About this view

From a Spanish restaurant on Town Quay, opposite the ferry terminal, this live cam looks out over the water at the Port of Southampton, where Southampton Water meets the city's docks.

The traffic is the whole point: cruise ships turning in and out of their terminals, the ferries and fast catamarans to the Isle of Wight, tugs working around the giants, and container ships heading for the terminal further up the water. Southampton is Britain's busiest cruise port, and on a summer weekend several ships can sail within hours of each other, each one sounding its horn as it leaves. The Titanic sailed from these docks on 10 April 1912.

Southampton keeps UK time, UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer, the clock of London. The cruise season peaks from April to October, with fewer calls through the winter, when the container ships, tugs and ferries carry the view on their own.
