About this view
Perched about twelve metres up at the root of the south jetty, this live webcam watches the narrow channel every boat in Fécamp must thread. The town was once the capital of France's cod fleet: in 1903 it armed 73 vessels for the Newfoundland grounds, some thirty-five men to a boat.
Today the traffic is trawlers, yachts and the crew transfer vessels that service the wind farm offshore — 71 turbines, switched on in May 2024, with their maintenance base inside this harbour. Walkers take the jetties in all weather; the chalk cliffs close the view.
Movements cluster around high water, since the inner basins open roughly two and a half hours before it (UTC+1, +2 in summer). June to September is the kindest season, though an Atlantic gale makes the better television.
