Edgartown Harbor and Katama Bay
Edgartown Harbor on a live webcam toward Katama Bay, Dock Street and the yacht club, on Martha's Vineyard.
About this view
From the Old Sculpin Gallery on Dock Street, this live cam looks across Edgartown Harbor towards Katama Bay, with the downtown waterfront and the Edgartown Yacht Club in the frame.
The building it looks from is a piece of the harbour's history: a shingled shed with a tall tower, put up in 1840 as a whale-oil works, later a sail loft and a grain store, and from 1900 to 1954 the shop where Manuel Swartz Roberts built some 200 catboats. Artists have shown their work there since 1954. Edgartown was the island's whaling port, and the white houses its captains built still line the streets behind the harbour.
Edgartown keeps Eastern Time, UTC−5, UTC−4 in summer. The small On Time ferry shuttles cars and bicycles across the harbour mouth to Chappaquiddick all day, and from June to September the moorings fill with visiting boats and the waterfront with people waiting for sunset.
