A live camera over the marina at Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, on the stretch of northern Brittany marketed as the Emerald Coast for the colour the sea turns over its sandy bottom. The resort's Grande Plage runs roughly two kilometres around the bay from here.
Yachts and small fishing boats fill the pontoons, dinghy classes go out from the slipway, and the tide does the heavy lifting: the range here is big enough that the view changes character between one visit and the next.
Summer is the sailing season and the busiest picture (UTC+1, +2 in summer). On the headland above the port stands a granite column raised in 1858 for the centenary of the battle of Saint-Cast, fought on this shore in 1758, when a British force lost some two thousand men trying to re-embark.
