Miami River at the Brickell Avenue Bridge
Where the Miami River meets Biscayne Bay, the Brickell Avenue Bridge on a live webcam that follows the boats.
About this view
This live cam looks over the mouth of the Miami River, where it opens into Biscayne Bay, with the Brickell Avenue Bridge in view and the towers of Brickell and downtown on either bank. The camera follows movement on its own, so the frame tracks whatever is crossing.
The river is short, about five and a half miles, and it works for a living: small freighters carrying goods to the Caribbean load at terminals upriver, and every one of them, like the yachts and tour boats, needs the bascule bridges to open. The Brickell Avenue Bridge, rebuilt in 1995, carries a bronze statue of a Tequesta family, after the people who lived at this river mouth long before Miami existed.
Miami keeps Eastern Time, UTC−5, UTC−4 in summer. The dry season, from November to April, is the busiest on the water; summer brings afternoon thunderstorms that roll over the bay and are gone within the hour.
