Elbo Room
The 1938 beach bar that spring break made famous, a live webcam on its dance floor.
About this view
The Elbo Room has stood on the corner of A1A and Las Olas, directly across from Fort Lauderdale Beach, since 1938. This live camera points at the dance floor and the stage, which is where the bar has always earned its reputation.
It became famous by accident. Being featured in MGM's 1960 film Where the Boys Are turned Fort Lauderdale into the American spring break destination: students arrived in their thousands within days of the release, and the city spent decades dealing with the consequences. The bar has outlasted the whole cycle and still runs live bands over an open-air room.
Eastern time, UTC−5. Bands and crowds build through the evening and late into the night; March keeps some of the old spring-break energy, and the corner stays busy whenever there is sun on the beach opposite.
