This live cam stands at the far end of the International Fishing Pier in Deerfield Beach, on the wide platform anglers call the T, with the Atlantic on three sides. The pier runs 976 feet out from the sand — nearly the length of three football fields — into water deep enough for the fish that make the trip worthwhile.
It is a fishing cam first: rods along the rail, bait buckets, the occasional bent rod and the small crowd that gathers to see what comes up — snapper, mackerel, the odd shark. Pelicans wait for scraps, and the beach and the low skyline of the town run along behind.
Dawn is the anglers' hour and the best light (UTC−5, −4 in summer); the pier is lit at night and never fully empties. The first wooden pier here went up in the early 1950s and was wiped out by Hurricane Donna in 1960; this one dates from 1963, with a major rebuild in 2012.
