Geiranger Cruise Port

Geiranger's quay at the head of the Geirangerfjord, tenders, ferries and the fjord walls on a live webcam.

About this view

This live cam looks down the quay at Geiranger, the village at the head of the Geirangerfjord, with the fjord and its 1,000-metre walls filling the frame behind the boats. The fjord has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2005, and the village of some 250 residents receives hundreds of thousands of visitors a summer, most of them arriving by water.

Cruise ships anchor in the fjord and send their passengers in by tender, so the quay fills in waves: a queue forms, an orange tender comes alongside, and the village swells by a thousand people in twenty minutes. The sightseeing boats to the Seven Sisters waterfall leave from the same pontoons, and the car ferry to Hellesylt runs through the day.

Geiranger keeps Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer. The season runs from May to September, with the ships in from about 07:00 and gone by early evening; in June the light lasts past 23:00, and from October to April the quay is empty and the fjord is the whole picture.
