About this view
North Conway is the main village of the Mount Washington Valley in New Hampshire's White Mountains, and this live cam watches its downtown from Norcross Place, by the Eastern Slope Inn on Main Street.
The village has lived on visitors since the railroad reached it in the nineteenth century: painters of the White Mountain school first, then skiers, hikers and, more recently, shoppers drawn by the outlet stores along Route 16. The Conway Scenic Railroad still runs excursion trains from its 1874 station at the top of the village, and on a clear day the summit of Mount Washington, 6,288 feet and the highest peak in the north-eastern United States, stands above the town.
North Conway keeps Eastern Time, UTC−5, UTC−4 in summer. Foliage in late September and October brings the biggest crowds of the year, and winter fills Main Street with ski racks bound for the resorts of the valley.
