Downtown Fitchburg
From a church steeple, a live webcam over Main Street in Fitchburg, the mill city in Worcester County.
About this view
From the steeple of the First Parish Church, this live cam looks down Main Street in Fitchburg, a mill city of some 42,000 people in northern Worcester County, Massachusetts, and the third-largest city in the county.
The street below carries the ordinary traffic of a small New England city: buses, deliveries, students walking up from Fitchburg State University, and the brick blocks that the paper and textile mills built in the 19th century. The Nashua River, which powered those mills, runs through the city a few streets away, and the commuter rail line to Boston takes its name from Fitchburg, its end of the line.
Fitchburg keeps Eastern Time, UTC−5, UTC−4 in summer, so the working morning here falls in a European afternoon. The maples along the street colour in mid October, snow sits on the roofs from December, and the street runs busiest in term time, when the university's few thousand students are in town.
