Barangay Basketball Court
Pick-up games under the roof of a barangay basketball court in Agdao, a live webcam on the national obsession.
About this view
Under the roof of the Kapitan Tomas Monteverde barangay hall, this live cam watches the Philippines' most reliable spectacle: a basketball game. The country counts some 42,000 barangays, its smallest unit of government, and nearly every one keeps a court.
Play runs from kids' shootarounds to full-court pick-up in flip-flops, with the hall's benches as grandstand. The court doubles as the barangay's public square, so games share the same slab of painted concrete with whatever the neighbourhood needs it for that day.
The heat sets the schedule: mornings and late afternoons see the most games, and evenings under the lights draw the crowds (UTC+8). When a liga, an inter-barangay league, is running, expect uniforms, referees and real noise.
