About this view
Goodyear Ballpark opened on 21 February 2009 in Goodyear, Arizona, in the West Valley outside Phoenix, and this live cam faces north-east across its field. Two major-league teams share it for spring training: Cleveland, since the park opened, and Cincinnati, since 2010.
The park seats 8,000, with a grass berm for about 1,500 more. Its big weeks are February and March, the Cactus League season, when workouts and exhibition games fill the stands. The rest of the year the field hosts community events, other sports and tournaments, and between them the desert light moves slowly across an empty diamond.
Goodyear keeps Mountain Standard Time, UTC−7, all year: Arizona does not change its clocks, so the gap with Europe shifts by an hour when Europe changes its own. The city, home to some 95,000 people, takes its name from the tyre company that bought land here in 1917 to grow cotton for tyre cords, and summer afternoons regularly pass 40°C.
