Bald Eagle Nest Wide View
Jackie and Shadow's nest from the second angle, a live webcam on the whole pine, the perches and the ridge.
About this view
The second camera on Jackie and Shadow's nest pulls back to take in the whole pine and the ridge behind it. Where the close view fills the frame with the nest cup, this one holds the perches, the flight lines in and out, and the San Bernardino Mountains falling away toward the lake.
The eagles are often out of the nest and still in shot: on the branch above, on a bare snag, or turning over the ridge. Ravens and squirrels work the tree between visits. When an adult comes in with a fish you get the whole approach, which the close camera never shows.
This nest cam runs 24/7, and Big Bear Valley is on Pacific Time, UTC−8 and UTC−7 in summer. Nesting is the season to watch: eggs arrive in the depths of winter, snow lands on the nest through February, and in a good year there are chicks to see by spring.
