Dodong Barber Shop
Inside a neighbourhood barber shop in Agdao on a live webcam: clippers, chatter and the queue on the bench.
About this view
A webcam inside Dodong Barber Shop in Davao's Agdao district, streaming around the clock. The Filipino barbershop is an institution: a few chairs, a mirror wall, a bench for the queue, and a barbero who has cut the same heads for years, the place a neighbourhood goes for a fade, a shave, and the news.
The chairs are the show. Clippers, straight razors, the talcum cloud at the end of a cut; kids held still for a first trim; men reading their phones on the bench until it is their turn. Nothing is hurried, and the conversation rarely stops.
Mornings before work and the hours after school are the busy stretches (UTC+8); Saturdays run all day, and the days before a fiesta or a graduation turn the bench into a waiting room. Overnight the shutter is down and the chairs sit empty under the light.
