Agdao is one of Davao's densest districts, built around its public market, and the streets around it trade from before dawn: vegetables and fish unloaded from tricycles and jeepneys, vendors setting out their goods under umbrellas, shoppers carrying plastic bags, and a constant flow of motorbikes threading through all of it. Small neighbourhood stores, the sari-sari shops that sell everything from rice to single sachets of shampoo, are the corner shops of the Philippines, open from early morning until late at night.
