JR Sapporo Station
JR Sapporo Station on a live webcam, its trains, buses and weather, the hub of Hokkaido's railways.
About this view
Sapporo Station is the railway hub of Hokkaido, in Kita-ku at the head of the city's main lines, and this live cam looks down on its plaza, its trains and its buses. It is served by the Hakodate Main Line among others and connects to the subway station below it.
The station has stood on this footprint since November 1988, when the tracks were lifted onto a viaduct overnight, and it is changing again: work has begun at the north exit for the Hokkaido Shinkansen, which is being extended from Hakodate to Sapporo. The picture is a city thermometer as much as a station: rain on the plaza, snow piling on the roofs in January, commuters crossing in thick coats or shirtsleeves depending on the month.
Sapporo keeps Japan Standard Time, UTC+9, with no daylight saving, so the morning rush here falls in the European small hours. The station's north side is the one to watch for the Shinkansen works over the next few years.
