Riomaggiore is the most southerly of the five Cinque Terre villages, the first you reach from La Spezia, and this live cam, on a small hotel above the valley, faces north-west across its stacked houses and the rocky coast beyond them.
The village is built into a narrow cleft that runs down to the sea, so the painted fronts rise in tiers over one another, and the day moves with the trains and the light on the terraces of vines, held up by dry-stone walls built by hand over centuries. The whole coast has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997, and the Via dell'Amore, the cliff path from here to Manarola, reopened in 2024 after years of closure for rockfall repairs.
Riomaggiore keeps Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer. The walking paths above the coast are busiest from April to October, winter leaves the lanes to the villagers, and the light on the houses is best in the late afternoon.
