Val di Luce Ski Lifts

The lift base and the slopes of Val di Luce at Abetone, snow or meadow by the month, on a live webcam.

About this view

This live cam watches the bottom station of the lifts at Val di Luce, in the Abetone ski area of the Tuscan Apennines, with the pistes running up the valley behind it to the ridge. Abetone has some 50 kilometres of runs spread over four valleys, and this one, the highest, is the one that keeps its snow longest.

In season the lift queue is the clock: it forms before 09:00 on a weekend, empties at lunch and builds again until the last ride up. Snow cannons work the lower slopes on cold nights, and the beech woods on either side of the pistes turn from bare to green to copper across the year.

Abetone keeps Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer. The lifts run from December to early April when the snow allows, and the slopes are best watched in the morning before the sun softens them; in summer the valley is grass and the lifts stand still.
