Giant Pandas of Wolong
Pandas lounging, munching and tumbling on a live webcam in the bamboo forests of Wolong.
About this view
Giant pandas at the Wolong reserve's Shenshuping base at Gengda, deep in Sichuan's bamboo mountains, a window into China's flagship conservation programme, which helped the species climb off the endangered list, downgraded to "vulnerable" as numbers recovered.
A panda's day is refreshingly legible: roughly 12 hours of eating (up to 38 kg of bamboo), the rest napping in increasingly improbable positions. Cubs turn the enclosures into wrestling rings. Late summer through autumn is peak fluff.
On this live webcam, China runs on UTC+8, so European mornings and American evenings catch the pandas' active daylight hours. Snowfall days are a bonus: pandas famously love it like children love a snow day.
