Alveus Sanctuary is a nonprofit wildlife sanctuary in Texas built to be visited only online, and this live cam is one of its windows onto the animal ambassadors in its care. The streamer and conservationist Maya Higa founded it on 10 February 2021, after a 20-hour charity stream raised more than 573,000 US dollars, and it stands on a 15-acre property in the Austin area.
With no public visitors, the animals live without crowds at the fence, which keeps their stress low. Each ambassador is a non-releasable animal that represents its species, and the team uses each one to tell a conservation story and to talk about the part that consumer choices play in it.
