A nest cam on a white stork nest at the Makov wildlife rescue station near Písek, in South Bohemia. The station was founded in 1993 by the Czech Union for Nature Conservation and takes in injured and orphaned wild animals from across the region, a record of more than a thousand in 2024 alone, and the storks chose its grounds for a nest of their own.
The pair arrives from Africa in late March, repairs the nest, and lays three to five eggs in April; the chicks hatch a month later and spend June growing at a pace that is visible day to day, until they fledge in July. Between the feeds there is bill-clattering, the adults shading the chicks in the heat, and the occasional intruder seen off.
Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer. Late March to early August is the season on the live cam; from late August until the birds return the nest stands empty, though the station's other residents pass through the edges of the picture. In Czech a stork nest is a čapí hnízdo, the phrase the locals search.
