Michaelianger Park, Munich

About this view
Michaelianger is a neighbourhood park in Berg am Laim, a borough in the east of Munich, and this live cam watches its lawns and trees through the day. Munich is divided into twenty-five such districts, and this park is a local one rather than a sight: the Englischer Garten, the city's famous park, lies across town.
The name gives the place away. An Anger, in German, is a village green, the common meadow a settlement grew around, and Berg am Laim was a village outside the city walls long before Munich absorbed it. Nothing dramatic happens here, which is the appeal: dog walkers in the morning, prams and footballs in the afternoon, and the long Bavarian dusk over the grass in summer.
Munich keeps Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer. It is a city of one and a half million, and the park empties in the first cold weeks, when Munich drives to the mountains at weekends instead, and fills again with the first warm evenings of April.
