About this view
From high above the Beltline, this live camera looks down on Central Memorial Park, a green square of paths and trees just south of downtown Calgary, with the office towers of the city centre rising straight behind it. The park holds the Memorial Park Library, a cenotaph and an equestrian statue of Russell Lambert Boyle, and in 2018 the library and the park around it were named a National Historic Site of Canada.
In the daytime the paths carry the people of the Beltline and the offices around it; after dark the lamps along them come on and the towers stay lit behind the trees. In winter the lawns go white, and a chinook wind off the Rockies can clear the snow again within a day.
Calgary keeps Mountain Time, UTC−7, UTC−6 in summer, so the city wakes during a European afternoon. In July the Stampede takes over the city for ten days, and in June the sky over the park stays light until about ten at night.
