Penguin Cam, Moody Gardens
King and gentoo penguins on a live webcam, waddling around their icy habitat in Galveston.
About this view
Inside Moody Gardens' glass Aquarium Pyramid on Galveston Island lives one of America's great penguin colonies: kings, gentoos, rockhoppers, chinstraps and macaronis sharing a chilled Antarctic exhibit, on camera around the clock.
Gentoos are the comedians (fastest swimmers, most prolific pebble thieves); the kings provide the stately processions. Feeding sessions, Central time, turn the whole habitat into rush hour, and chick season adds grey fluffballs to the cast.
The penguins keep lights-dimmed nights for natural rhythms, so the liveliest viewing is US daytime, mornings especially, when the divers clean the pool and the birds treat them as entertainment. Galveston keeps Central Time, UTC−6, UTC−5 in summer.
