Wrigley Field

The camera watches the corner of Clark and Addison, where the red marquee announces the home of the Chicago Cubs. The ballpark behind it opened in 1914 as Weeghman Park and took the Wrigley name in 1926, which makes it the second-oldest in Major League Baseball after Fenway and a National Historic Landmark in its own right.

Game days transform the frame hours in advance: the bars of Wrigleyville empty onto the pavement, fans photograph each other under the marquee, and the crowd thickens until first pitch. Look up beyond the park and you can pick out the rooftop bleachers on the surrounding apartment buildings, a Chicago institution that predates the modern stadium entirely.

Chicago runs on Central time. The Cubs play home games from April to September, mostly afternoons and early evenings. That is when this 24/7 live cam is at its liveliest.
