Milwaukee meets Lake Michigan along a shoreline that is largely public parkland, and this live webcam looks out over that edge of the city — freshwater to the horizon, downtown at its back.
The building that defines the view is the Milwaukee Art Museum's Quadracci Pavilion, Santiago Calatrava's white pavilion dedicated in 2001. Its Burke Brise Soleil is a moving sunscreen of 72 steel fins spanning 217 feet — 90 tons of it — that unfolds and folds twice a day, taking about three and a half minutes each time. Nothing else on an American lakefront moves like it.
