LifeSport Vernon Hills, Pickleball Court 1

LifeSport opened its first club built only for pickleball in Vernon Hills in the summer of 2024, and this live cam watches Court 1, one of its five indoor courts. The club comes from a tennis family: at its other sites, in Libertyville, Lincolnshire and Kenosha, pickleball lines are painted over tennis courts, while here the lines and nets are permanent and the surface is cushioned for the game.

Play runs on memberships and reservations, and the schedule follows the club's programmes: classes for every level, private lessons, match play, and adult and youth leagues from recreational to competitive. Doubles is the usual format, four players on a court the size of a badminton court, so the picture fills and empties with each booking.

Vernon Hills keeps Central Time, UTC−6, UTC−5 in summer, so an evening session here falls in the European night. The courts are indoors, so they play the same in January as in July, which in a Chicago-area winter is the whole point of them.
