The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue around the clock, the White House on a live webcam from a nearby rooftop.
About this view
A live webcam on the White House from the roof of the Associated Press building a few blocks away, with the residence, its grounds and the city around it in one frame. It is the oldest working address in American government: the cornerstone went down in 1792, and John Adams moved in before the plaster was dry, in November 1800.
What stands there now is a rebuilding. British troops burned the house in August 1814, and it was raised again on the same walls: 132 rooms today, on six levels, and still a family home as much as an office. On camera the traffic is helicopters, motorcades, and the steady stream of visitors along the fence line.
The light is best in the hours after sunrise and before dusk (UTC−5, −4 in summer). Snow is the picture worth waiting for; the grounds are lit through the night, so the 24/7 feed never goes fully dark.
