Swaminarayan Temple, Bhuj

A live webcam on the Radha Krishna Dev darshan at the Swaminarayan temple of Bhuj, a marble temple in Kutch.

About this view

A live darshan of Radha Krishna Dev at the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in Bhuj, the main town of Kutch in western Gujarat. The original temple was built by Swaminarayan himself in 1824 and destroyed in the earthquake of 26 January 2001 that levelled much of the town; the new temple, in marble and gold, was inaugurated in May 2010 on five acres, with seven shikharas and 258 carved pillars.

The day follows the temple's rhythm: the images are woken, dressed and offered food at fixed hours, the aarti flames circle at dawn and dusk, and the devotees come and go between. Festivals fill the halls, above all Janmashtami, Krishna's birthday, in August or September, and Diwali.

India keeps Indian Standard Time, UTC+5:30, with no daylight saving. The morning aarti falls around 00:30 UTC and the evening one around 13:30 UTC, and the temple is fullest on Sundays and festival days. In Gujarati the town is ભુજ, and the temple is often written Bhuj Mandir.
