A live stream from Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, built by Muhammad himself in 622 and the second holiest site in Islam after Makkah. The mosque and its courtyards now cover some 400,000 square metres and hold around 700,000 worshippers, close to a million at peak, under the Green Dome that marks the Prophet's tomb.
The rhythm is the five daily prayers: the courtyards fill, the great folding umbrellas open against the sun and close again at night, and between prayers the crowds thin to pilgrims walking the marble, families resting in the shade and the constant quiet traffic toward the Rawdah. Ramadan and the weeks around Hajj bring the mosque to its fullest.
