Playa del Inglés, Gran Canaria
A live webcam over Playa del Inglés in Gran Canaria, the resort strip beside the Maspalomas dunes.
About this view
Playa del Inglés is the resort heart of the south of Gran Canaria, and this 4K live cam looks over its streets and terraces from the Atlántico centre, a camera that pans and zooms through the day.
The resort went up in the 1960s to sell winter sun and still runs on it: terraces and shopping centres busy from late morning, a long beach that joins the Maspalomas dunes to the west, and an evening crowd that comes out once the heat drops. The dunes have been protected since the 1980s, a field of sand a few kilometres wide that survives between the hotels.
The Canaries keep their own time, UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer, an hour behind the Spanish mainland. Year-round residents number some 7,500. The winter air rarely drops below the high teens, which is why the season here never really closes, and September to November are the warmest months of all.
