About this view
The town's own live webcam on the Surfside Beach Pier, on the Grand Strand just south of Myrtle Beach. The pier is new: the wooden one that stood here was wrecked by Hurricane Matthew in 2016, and its replacement — 814 feet from the front steps to the end, the first concrete pier in South Carolina — opened in March 2024, on the day the town turned sixty.
Anglers work the rail from early morning, walkers take the length of it for the view, and the beach either side fills through the day with the families the town has always marketed itself to. Pelicans patrol the end; dolphins pass close enough to stop conversation.
Summer is the busy picture, from Memorial Day to Labor Day (UTC−5, −4 in summer); sunrise over the Atlantic is the reason to set an alarm, since the pier faces straight into it. Hurricane season, June to November, is when the new pier earns its concrete.
