An elevated view across Singapore's financial district, looking over Telok Ayer towards the towers of the central business district: Capital Tower, Frasers Tower and the Singtel building among them. It is a good frame for understanding how the city is built: glass and steel packed tight, then split by broad avenues and interrupted, everywhere, by trees.
The district has a clear working rhythm. Mornings bring the commute into the CBD, lunch empties the towers into the shophouses of Telok Ayer Street below, and the offices light up floor by floor as the afternoon fades. Tropical downpours arrive fast and hard, wash the whole frame grey for twenty minutes, then leave it steaming.
Singapore runs on UTC+8 and sits almost exactly on the equator, so daylight barely shifts across the year: sunrise around 7 am, sunset around 7 pm, every month. Dusk is the hour to catch on this 24/7 live cam: the sky goes deep blue behind the towers and the whole district switches its lights on within a few minutes.
