Farm Sanctuary Sheep Barn

Rescued sheep and a few goats in the straw at America's first farm animal sanctuary, on a live webcam.

About this view

Farm Sanctuary opened at Watkins Glen in 1986 as the first shelter of its kind in the United States, taking farm animals out of the food system and keeping them for life. This live webcam sits inside the sheep barn, where ewes, lambs, older rescues and a few resident goats share the straw.

It is the quietest stream we carry and that is the appeal. Sheep sleep pressed together, get up, chew, rearrange themselves and lie down again. Lambs use the adults as furniture. The goats, being goats, climb whatever is available and interfere. Staff come through with hay and the whole barn stands up at once.

New York State runs on Eastern Time, UTC−5 and UTC−4 in summer. Mornings and late afternoons bring the feed rounds. Winter is when the barn fills up and the huddling starts; spring brings lambs, and with them the only noise this camera ever really produces.
