About this view
Ride up front through the oldest underground railway on Earth. The Tube opened in 1863 with steam engines; today its eleven lines carry up to five million passengers a day, and this 24/7 cab-view stream threads its tunnels and viaducts nonstop.
The fascination is the alternation: deep Victorian tube tunnels barely wider than the train, then sudden daylight as lines surface through suburbs, then back into the dark. Stations tick past like a live map of the city, 272 of them across the network.
Ideal background viewing: the rhythm of stations, the roar of tunnels, the occasional ghost station flashing past. London commuting hours (7–9 am, 5–7 pm UK time) add packed platforms to the show.
