About this view
Jackson's Town Square, officially George Washington Memorial Park, has an arch of elk antlers at each of its four corners, and this live cam looks down on one of them from above the square. The park's trees stand beside the arch, a signal-controlled intersection runs in front of it, and wooded hills rise at the end of the street.
The antlers were never hunted: elk shed them every spring on the refuge that borders the town to the north, and local Scouts gather them there to sell at an antler auction each May, with much of the money going back to the refuge. Around the arch the square works like any small-town centre, with traffic at the light and visitors stopping for a photograph under the antlers.
Jackson keeps Mountain Time, UTC−7, UTC−6 in summer. Summer is the busy season in the gateway town to Grand Teton and Yellowstone, and in winter the antler arches glow with holiday lights. Some 10,700 people live in Jackson, the largest incorporated town in Wyoming.
