Live Webcams in Dolomites
The Dolomites are a range of pale peaks in north-eastern Italy, spread across the provinces of Belluno, Trento and Bolzano, and the live webcams in the Dolomites look at mountains that change colour with the hour: grey at noon, gold in the afternoon and red at dusk, the alpenglow the Ladin valleys call enrosadira. The rock is dolomite, named after the French geologist Déodat de Dolomieu, who described it in the 1790s. Eighteen summits pass 3,000 metres, the highest being the Marmolada at 3,343 metres, and the range has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009. The Dolomites keep Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer. Three languages share the valleys, Italian, German and Ladin; the huts open from late June to September, and the ski season runs from December to April.
