Ruidoso, New Mexico, is a mountain village in the Sierra Blanca range at 6,920 feet, where the ponderosa pines replace the desert, and the live webcams in Ruidoso show its midtown: a street of timber shopfronts, pickups and horse trailers, with the wooded slopes rising straight behind the rooftops. Sierra Blanca Peak, above the ski runs, stands 3,652 metres, the highest point in southern New Mexico. The racetrack below the village runs from late May to Labor Day; the slopes above it open in December.
