Live Webcams in Lourdes

Lourdes, a small town in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, receives millions of pilgrims a year, and the live webcams in Lourdes show what they come for: the grotto in the rock beside the Gave de Pau where the apparitions were reported in 1858, with the candles, the rosary, the Masses in a dozen languages and the sick brought to the front. Watching it live is how many people who cannot travel take part. Lourdes keeps Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer, so the morning Masses fall around 07:00 UTC and the torchlight procession leaves the grotto at 19:00 UTC on summer evenings, from April to October. Fourteen-year-old Bernadette Soubirous reported 18 apparitions at this cave in 1858, and the sanctuary that grew around it now covers some 50 hectares. April to November is the pilgrimage season; 11 February, the feast day, fills the town in midwinter.
